Tarta Guinness – Guinness Cake [celebrating St Patrick´s day]

We have celebrated the  Scotland’s National Day with the Cock a leekie soup, we’ve also done it with Wales and her the Cawl Cennin (leek and potato soup), so how are we going to miss such an important date as St. Patrick’s Day!
You know all it is the Irish National Day to commemorate the death of St. Patrick. Because of its diaspora in the early twentieth century, St. Patrick´s day became one of the world’s most popular celebrations.
Yo can find parades, of course in Dublin but the most famous one it is the one in New York. More than 3 million people attend the parade. Other popular cities where you may find one are Chicago, London, Belfast or Boston …
This time we haven´t chosen a dish from the holidays (no more leek eating pls  XDXDXD) but perhaps we have chosen one of the most famous symbols in Irish culture; I’m talking about Guinness beer.
The Guinness Cake, which you may already know,  was a “boom” last year. It is now already a classic, so I could not miss trying it … It’s actually a juicy spongecake incorporating chocolate and Guinness beer as an ingredient. When you see a cake like this the typical question will be, can you notice the taste of beer? …Indeed, a “smack” bit at the end of your tasting. Of course, if you are on a diet, sorry, don’t even try! There are 400 grs of sugar in it.  XD.
Guinness Cake
for about 8 people
Preparation time: 1 hour 20 minutes
Difficulty: Easy
What do you need?
for the cake
– 250 g wheat flour
– 75 grams of cocoa powder
– 400 g sugar
– 2 ½ teaspoon of baking soda
– 250 grams of Guinness beer
– 225 g butter at room temperature
– 120 g of double cream
– 2 eggs
for frosting
– 250 g of mascarpone cheese
– 100 g icing sugar
– 250 g cream (35% fat)
How you make it?
in Thermomix (Food processor)
the cake
1.- Let’s mix in the bowl the flour, cocoa, sugar and two teaspoons ½ of baking soda 15 seconds speed programming 5. Reserve.
2.- Without washing the bowl, put the beer and butter at room temperature, cut into dices and mix 3 minutes, 50 °, speed 2.
3.- Now add  the cream and eggs and stir them 15-30 seconds on speed 2 and a half.
4.- Preheat the oven at 180º.
5.- Do not set time and put the machine to turn to speed 3 and add to the mixture the reserved flour, sugar and baking soda until it is well blended. Pour into a greased mold.
6.- Bake at 170 degrees for about 55-60 minutes depending on oven.
Frosting
1.- Put the butterflies. Add the cream, mascarpone and icing sugar and begin to beat at speed 3.5 for mounting all together. In my case after 3 ½ minutes it was ready, but it depends, so be careful that you do not overbeat it.
Finishing it
1.- Put the frosting on the cake imitating the beer foam when the cake has cooled; not yummie, MORE THAN THIS!
without Thermomix
1.- In a bowl mix the dry ingredients, i.e. flour, cocoa, baking soda and sugar until everything is smooth. Reserve.
2.- In a shallow pan put beer and butter to heat, low temperature without boiling. Stir constantly until butter is melted.
3.- Remove the pan from the heat and put the mixture in a bowl, then add the cream and eggs, mix well, help yourself with the mixer.
4.- Preheat the oven at 180 degrees.
5.- Add the dry ingredients slowly while beating until well blended.
6.- Bake at 170 degrees about 55-60 minutes depending on oven.
frosting
1.- Whip the cream with the mascarpone and icing sugar until creamy dense enough to be smeared.
Finishing the cake
1.-P ut the frosting on the cake imitating the beer foam when the cake has cooled; not yummie, MORE THAN THIS!

Tarta Guinness – Guinness Cake [celebrating St Patrick´s day]

XD.

receta de tarta guinness
English version
XD.
